Since 2021, Surthriving Psychological has offered personalized therapy for individuals and couples ages 18 & up. We provide evidence-based therapy for a wide range of mental health concerns by fostering resilience, improving relationships, and promoting positive change.
Surthriving (pronounced sir-thrive-ing) is more than just a term to spark questions; it stems from Dr. Angela's lifetime of lived experiences, leading to a philosophy that acknowledges adversity as an integral part of life. At times, we may face challenges that leave us feeling ill-equipped to cope, struggling to just survive the day. Other days, we may feel at the peak of our performance, truly thriving in our lives. The concept of 'surthriving' encompasses both surviving and thriving, representing a continuum that ebbs and flows throughout our experiences. By engaging in evidence-based treatment, ongoing reflection, authentic connection, courage, and adopting a growth mindset, we begin to realize that, much like the legendary Phoenix, significant changes and new beginnings can emerge after periods of struggle. These transformations often arise from the challenges we face, helping us to not just survive but to thrive because of them.

Compassion is at the heart of everything we do. We understand that reaching out for support can feel vulnerable, and we are committed to meeting every client with warmth, empathy, and genuine care.
We believe that every individual has the capacity for growth, resilience, and meaningful change. Our role is not to direct your journey, but to support and empower you as you build insight, confidence, and the tools needed to move forward with clarity and purpose.
We recognize that life experiences—especially those involving trauma, loss, chronic stress, or adversity—can deeply impact emotional, physical, and relational well-being. Being trauma-informed means understanding that behaviors, emotions, and coping patterns often develop as adaptive responses to difficult experiences.
Human connection is essential to emotional well-being and healing. We believe that every person deserves to feel seen, accepted, and valued for who they are. We honor the importance of community, relationships, identity, and shared human experience.
Integrity is the foundation of the care and relationships we build within our practice. We believe trust is earned through transparency, consistency, and authenticity. We are committed to providing ethical, honest, and compassionate services grounded in professionalism, accountability, and respect for every individual we serve.
We believe meaningful and effective care begins with humility, openness, and a willingness to learn from the lived experiences of others. Cultural humility is an ongoing commitment to self-awareness, respect, and recognizing that each person’s identity, background, values, and experiences shape how they move through the world.
We believe that mental health and well-being are deeply influenced by the systems, environments, and experiences that shape our lives. Our practice is committed to fostering equity, inclusion, and compassionate care while recognizing the impact that discrimination, oppression, trauma, and systemic barriers can have on individuals and communities.
We are committed to creating a welcoming, affirming, and inclusive environment where every individual feels respected, valued, and supported. Our practice embraces and honors the diversity of human experiences, identities, backgrounds, abilities, beliefs, and perspectives. We strive to foster a space where all clients feel safe being themselves without fear of judgment or discrimination.
Our practice is committed to providing compassionate, nonjudgmental care that honors each person’s experiences, emotions, identities, and life journey. Every individual carries a unique story shaped by personal experiences, relationships, challenges, and strengths. We approach therapy with empathy, curiosity, and respect—creating space for openness, honesty, and vulnerability without assumptions or condemnation.
We recognize that clients are the experts of their own lives. Our role is to provide guidance, insight, and evidence-based support while creating space for clients to actively participate in their healing and personal growth.
